With Anderson Brasa & Stéphane Kyndt

Manaus is unlike any other city in the world. At the gateway of the Amazon, where the river dictates the rhythm of life, street photography unfolds along floating docks, bustling ports, open-air markets, riverboats, and vibrant neighborhoods shaped by heat, color, and movement. Daily life happens in public—on the riverbanks, in the streets, and between cultures—offering raw, powerful scenes filled with contrast, humanity, and visual intensity.

Now imagine spending 5 immersive days photographing Manaus and its surroundings, where urban life meets the vast Amazon River.

Under the guidance of Anderson Brasa, a local street photographer deeply connected to Manaus and its people, alongside Stéphane Kyndt of Street-Macadam, you will learn how to navigate complex environments, work with challenging light, and capture authentic moments shaped by culture, climate, and rhythm. Anderson’s intimate knowledge of the city and river life will take you beyond obvious scenes, helping you anticipate moments and photograph Manaus from the inside.

This workshop goes beyond making strong images—it’s about learning to observe patiently, react instinctively, and connect respectfully with people and place. From the port areas and markets to river crossings and everyday street life, you’ll build a body of work that reflects the true spirit of the Amazonian city.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced photographer, you’ll receive daily guidance, practical feedback, and techniques you can apply immediately—leaving Manaus with powerful images, a stronger visual language, and the rare experience of photographing street life at the heart of the Amazon.

1-on-1 Shooting Time

The group of max 10 participants will be divided into 2 groups. Each small group will greatly benefit from the support and expertise of one of the guides.

Each group, will change mentors regularly, allowing you to experience different approaches to street photography and learn how to approach people and work the scene effectively.

This rotation ensures that you will gain diverse perspectives and techniques, enhancing your skills and especially your creative eye.

If the photographer mentors choose to stay together with the group, the second photographer will walk at a distance from the main group and may occasionally take different directions. This approach helps avoid having a large group photographing the same scenes and encourages a more varied street photography experience.
